Varivas Full Circle have a good following in the UK and if you like this type of hook then these Varivas ones are among the best.

The Varivas Full Circle is made from a heavy gauge wire with a straight eye, sharp curved off-set point and neat barb.

Circles are best for fish that move off with the bait and are particularly good for bass, hounds and tope.

With the advent of the ‘dongle’ and hair rigging type rigs the Varivas Full Circle has really come into its own. On this style of rig a Varivas Full Circle gives you almost guaranteed lip hooking with hounds, bass and rays.

The smaller sizes are also worth using for bream and whiting as they not only hook up really well but help to avoid deep hooking. They are best when used with fish baits, live or dead, but they are not a good choice for fishing with worm baits as the circle shape makes them hard to bait up.

If you haven’t tried a circle hook before don’t forget that you do not strike, just gently tighten into the weight of the fish and the hook will pull itself into the corner of the fishes mouth. This can be hard to do but striking is definitely not a good move as most times all you succeed in doing is pulling the hook out of the fishes mouth!

Mike Ladle carried out some extensive tests using both circle and standard J hooks for live baiting for bass with mackerel from the shore. He found the hook up rate with the 6/0 Varivas Full Circle was far better than that achieved with a standard hook. Once the bass had the bait and was running off with it just tightening the line pulled the hook home and every fish was neatly hooked in the mouth.
He also had outstanding results using the same hook with wobbled dead baits for pike and again each fish was hooked cleanly in the scissors.

Split shipments and mixed orders

Items fulfilled from different locations or in different shipping profiles may be dispatched separately. Shipping rates and free‑delivery thresholds are applied per shipping profile. For example, if a reel and frozen bait are fulfilled from different profiles, the bait may be charged its next‑day rate even if the combined order value exceeds £85. We will always try to minimise the number of shipments, but operational constraints (temperature control, storage location) can require separate dispatches.

Tracking and notifications

  • Tracking information is emailed once your order has been dispatched. Please allow time for the carrier to update tracking details.
  • If tracking shows a delivery exception, contact us and we will investigate.

Returns & Refunds

We want you to be satisfied with your purchase. The following sets out our returns and refund policy.

Return window and general rules

  • Return period: 30 days from the date of delivery for most items.
  • Items must be returned unused, in original packaging, and in a resellable condition unless faulty.
  • Proof of purchase (order number) is required for all returns.
  • Refunds are processed within 3–5 working days of receiving and inspecting the returned item and will be issued to the original payment method.

Frozen baits and perishable items

  • Frozen baits are sold and returned at the customer’s own risk. Because of their perishable and temperature‑sensitive nature, we cannot guarantee refunds for frozen baits that have thawed, been mishandled, or returned outside safe temperature conditions.
  • If a frozen bait arrives thawed or damaged, contact us immediately with photos and tracking details so we can assess the claim.

Faulty or damaged items

  • Faulty or damaged items will be replaced or refunded in accordance with UK consumer law.
  • Please provide photos and a description of the fault when you contact us to start the returns process.

How to start a return

  1. Email sales@stevesbaits.co.uk or call 01633 546161 with your order number, the item(s) to return and the reason for return.
  2. We will provide return authorisation and the return address. Do not send items back without authorisation.
  3. Pack items securely and include proof of purchase. For frozen baits, follow any special return instructions we provide.
  4. Once we receive and inspect the return, we will confirm the refund or replacement.

Return costs and exclusions

  • Standard returns (non‑faulty) are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise stated.
  • If an item is faulty or we shipped the wrong item, we will cover return postage.
  • Non‑returnable items: perishable items returned outside our authorised process, gift cards, and items marked “Final Sale”.

Order changes, cancellations & liability

  • If you need to cancel or change an order, contact sales@stevesbaits.co.uk or call 01633 546161 as soon as possible. We will cancel or change orders where possible before dispatch.
